The course provides a substantial and balanced introduction to the basics and advanced concepts of radar polarimetry, InSAR polarimetry (POLinSAR) and SAR Tomography (TomoSAR) theory and applications. The objective is to prepare participants for the scientific exploitation of the data from past, current (eg. ALOS-2, Sentinel-1, GF-3, RISAT) and future (e.g. BIOMASS, NovaSAR-S, RCM, SAOCOM, NISAR, TerraSAR-L) SAR Missions.

The course includes theoretical lectures as well as hands-on computing exercises, where participants will be exposed to PolSAR, Pol-InSAR and TomoSAR data processing for remote sensing applications.

During the course participants will use mainly the ESA Toolbox for the exploitation of EO SAR polarimetric data -  PolSARpro and ESA Sentinels Applications Platform SNAP. Moreover, the use of SAR tomography toolbox will also be introduced.

The course will focus on full-pol (ALOS-1&2, RADARSAT-2, TerraSAR-X) and dual-pol Sentinel-1 spaceborne products, as well as airborne campaign data.
